CCJ 15-1 Ninjas Volleyball Tournament Update

Below is an update on Leyden's travel volleyball season with the Capital City Juniors 15-1 Ninjas.

The first tournament, Heart of Dixie, was hosted by our club January 21 & 22 at the Renaissance in Montgomery.  They played Power, which is more competitive than Club, and placed third in their bracket.  Leyden had a great run of serving in the first day of this tournament and helped score several points for the Ninjas.  This was her first tournament with club volleyball, and she really did a great job.  I was really proud of her!

Their second tournament was the Music City Block Party, held February 4 & 5 in Franklin, Tennessee.  They won the tournament in the 15 Club bracket, and each player was awarded a $10 iTunes gift card.  This was a pretty competitive tournament and Leyden did very well holding her own on the court.

The third tournament was the Eastern Shore Volleyball Club's February Fling, held February 19th in Daphne, Alabama.  The Ninjas were undefeated tournament champions and received a Champion t-shirt.  Leyden did very well setting during this tournament, and you could tell that she has developed a rapport with the hitters.  She looked comfortable on the court and played well.

The fourth tournament was the Big Spring Bash, held February 25 & 26 in Huntsville, Alabama.  Once again, the Ninjas were undefeated tournament champions and received a Champion t-shirt.  Leyden played middle back in this tournament for a little bit, and she did a great job digging the ball! She was a little like a fish out of water at first because she doesn't usually play this position, but she did a great job passing the ball to the setter.  During the championship match, Leyden was setting and the ball came over the net low.  Just as the ball was about to hit the floor, one of the girls managed to keep it from hitting the floor, but only bumped it a few feet off the court.  Just as the ball was about to hit the floor, Leyden dove down and set it up above the net, then the ball was hit over the net for a point.  It was an amazing recovery by the team, and a wonderful moment for Leyden!

The next tournament for the Ninjas is Saturday, March 24th at the Capital City Sportsplex in Montgomery.  We're hoping for another big win!

Thanks for being a cheerleader for Leyden! She loves you all and we appreciate your support!
