Saturday, February 7th, Leyden's class participated in a Walk-A-Thon to raise money for Space Camp. They are going to a three-day, two-night camp in April, and so far Leyden has raised all but $12 of her tuition. (I had to pay a $50 deposit, and she has raised the rest.) The class collectively raised money during football season selling snow cones, and we sold Christmas Candy Grams at school, and the proceeds from these two fundraisers was split between all 28 students. The $108 that Leyden raised for the Walk-A-Thon will be applied to her balance, so now she only owes $12. And we have to give her spending money for the three days at camp. I'm really proud of Leyden for working hard to raise money to go to camp.

The Walk-A-Thon was a lot of fun. Not all of Leyden's classmates participated, but the ones that did had a great time. We walked around the loop at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery, and the weather was perfect! The kids scattered into small groups and walked and rode scooters.

The parents and teachers scattered and walked in small groups. One of Leyden's teachers brought her dog, Darcy, and her brother's dog, Bear. The kids took turns walking the dogs, or I guess I should say the dogs took turns dragging the kids!

The class and their teachers posed for a group picture with one of the statutes on the grounds, and I got some random shots of the kids walking and playing.

After some of the kids left, another mom and I rounded up the kids and had them sit on a brick wall for a picture. It's really cute.

After walking for an hour and a half, the Walk-A-Thon was over and most of the kids left. Leyden and I pulled out our picnic and enjoyed a nice lunch at a picnic table under a tree. I really enjoyed being with Leyden's friends and their parents for a fun event, and it was great to have a picnic with Leyden!
